Major Middle East Carrier Finalises Widebody Expansion Order

A leading Middle Eastern airline has finalised a major widebody aircraft expansion order, reinforcing the region’s continued strategic investment in long-haul connectivity and fleet modernisation.

The agreement, confirmed this week, includes a mix of next-generation twin-aisle aircraft designed to support intercontinental growth, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce per-seat operating costs. Deliveries are expected to commence from 2027, with the aircraft deployed primarily on high-demand Europe, Asia-Pacific and North American routes.

Industry sources indicate the order includes aircraft from both the Airbus A350 family and the Boeing 787 programme, reflecting a continued preference for advanced composite airframes and next-generation engines.

The expansion aligns with broader regional aviation strategy, where Gulf-based carriers continue to leverage geographic positioning to strengthen hub-and-spoke connectivity. With passenger demand on long-haul sectors recovering strongly and premium cabin yields remaining resilient, widebody fleet growth is seen as central to maintaining competitive advantage.

The order also signals confidence in sustained traffic growth across the Middle East aviation market, particularly as infrastructure development continues at major hub airports.

Analysts suggest the deal could intensify competitive dynamics on key intercontinental corridors, especially as regional carriers expand capacity into secondary European and Asian markets.

Further details regarding cabin layouts, engine selections and financing structures are expected to be released in the coming months.
